Yahoo Back Turn 12 surprising Service

Yahoo increasingly slim cut more services. Yahoo's services as much as 12 was closed. This policy is carried out in order to focus more Yahoo services that take care of his priorities.

Among the 12 services including AltaVista, among others, which is 'great-grandfather' search engine and Yahoo RSS Alerts. Other, there is Yahoo Axis, Citizen Sports, Yahoo Browser Plus and other products that are less well known.

"We shut down a number of products so that we can focus on creating beautiful products that you need day-to-day," said Jay Rossiter, Executive Vice President of Platforms at Yahoo as quoted by PC World, Tuesday (02/07/2013).

Previously, Yahoo also remove quite a lot of products in April, among others, Deals and SMS Alerts. Reason for this policy is still the same, ie to sharpen their focus.

     1. Yahoo Axis, a browser plug-in (June 28)
     2. Yahoo Browser Plus, service for web application developers (June 28)
     3. Citizen Sports, sporting news and stat service (June 28)
     4. Yahoo WebPlayer, media player for websites (June 30)
     5. FoxyTunes, a plug-in to control different media player (July 1)
     6. Yahoo RSS Alerts (July 1)
     7. Neighbors Yahoo Beta, to help people discover what's going on around (July 8)
     8, AltaVista (July 8)
     9. Stars Yahoo India, celebrity news aggregator (July 25)
     10. Yahoo Downloads beta, to download third-party applications (July 31)
     11. Yahoo Local API, for developers to access local business information (28 September)
     12. Yahoo Term Extraction API, to extract terms and keywords from a website (28 September)


Special AltaVista, with the closure of this service, Yahoo encourage users to frequently visit the Yahoo Search page.
